"In Exchange" was born out of the pandemic. In May 2020, when it was feeling like the world had really gone to hell, my friend James Trimarco and I began a bi-weekly, bi-coastal song exchange. We were both yearning for some accountability and creative inspiration, and I think we found it with each other. Our multi-hour conversations about music, art, politics and love helped too.

Our collaboration would go on for about 9 months, during which time this album was written. Some tracks came out of very particular moments (for instance, Latch was written on election night, and I think it shows lolll), while others came out of prompts that James and I gave each other. I so appreciate him for pushing me to try new vibes, techniques and gear. This one goes out to you, James <3
